KeyLime Cove raises funds for Gurnee programs

Various community organizations in Gurnee will be the beneficiary of a special fundraising effort that topped last year’s results.

KeyLime Cove in Gurnee and United Way of Lake County recently concluded the third annual “Community Days” promotional event to raise cash for community programs.

During what was a limited-time promotion, $25 one-day passes were sold for the Lost Paradise indoor water park, normally exclusive to KeyLime Cove guests. Proceeds from the tickets sales benefited United Way and the Gurnee police and fire departments.

In all, $65,966 was raised for community programs, topping by $24,000 a goal that was set by organizers. There were 2,871 tickets sold, besting last year’s 1,658.

United Way will receive $32,983, followed by the police and fire departments each getting $16,491 for community education programs.

KeyLime Cove will host a reception and presentation of the money to the community partners Wednesday, July 27.

The first Community Days promotion in 2009 collected more than $69,000. Last year, more than $37,000 was raised for the community programs.

“We are so pleased with this exceptional partnership opportunity with KeyLime Cove,” said Kristi Long, president and CEO of United Way Lake County.

“The additional revenue that we receive from the Community Days event allows us to expand our current programs and make a greater impact for more children and families in our community.”
