According to reports, Keenan did not surface while swimming in the lake, near the Blue Heron and Silver Canoe Additions of Legend Lake.

Divers responded to the area after Keenan disappeared below the surface at 2:42 p.m. Monday and searched for two days, but called off the search Tuesday night after Keenan's body was not recovered.

An off-duty sheriff deputy who came in to work to assist in the search spotted the body Wednesday morning, and contacted the Menominee County medical examiner's office.

The medical examiner's office called the drowning an accident, and no autopsy has been scheduled.
