Fire damages Streamwood home

A house fire in Streamwood caused about $45,000 in damages on Friday afternoon, according to Streamwood Fire Department Battalion Chief Jeff Swanson.

Firefighters responded to a fire at 609 Oltendorf Dr. at 5:07 p.m., Swanson said. Upon arrival they discovered the rear surface of the house and rear deck on fire, he said.

The fire was extinguished in about 15 minutes. The Bartlett, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg and East Dundee fire departments provided assistance.

A resident was in the house at the time of the fire but was able to evacuate the residence prior to the arrival of the fire departments and avoid any injuries, Swanson said. While the fire did not reach the interior of the house, it left caused some minor smoke damage inside.

One Streamwood firefighter who suffered minor injuries from the fire was transported to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates and later released.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
