Probation for naked intruder facing drug charge

A naked man who entered a stranger’s Mount Prospect home uninvited twice in two days was sentenced to 24 months probation after he pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance.

Cook County Judge Kay Hanlon also ordered John J. Cagney, of Prospect Avenue in Mount Prospect, to submit to drug and alcohol evaluation and perform 80 hours of community service.

The homeowner called police about 11 a.m. May 11 to report an unknown naked man on the premises, prosecutors said.

Previous contact with the 40-year-old Cagney led police to his residence, prosecutors said. Hearing a woman’s screams, they entered the house and found a substance thought to be cocaine on a table. Cagney was not at home at the time and the screams were actually from a video, prosecutors said.

The same homeowner called police about 1:30 a.m. May 12 to report the naked man had returned. Police took Cagney into custody at that time. Prosecutors earlier said they were unaware of any relationship between Cagney and the homeowner.

Hanlon also ordered Cagney have no contact with the homeowner and that he pay $775 in fines.
