Moscow Ballet soloist leads master class in Batavia

World-renowned Russian ballet dancer Valery Vantratov will visit and teach a master ballet class the Batavia Academy of Dance from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, July 18. Selected as a first soloist with the Moscow Stanislavski Ballet, Lantratov is best known for his roles in such ballets as “Don Quixote,” “Copellia” and “Romeo and Juliet” and was awarded the Russian Federation’s highest artistic honor in 1997, when Russian President Boris Yeltsin named him “People’s Artist of Russia.”

The master class will be open to the public at a cost of $30 per dancer, but recommended for intermediate to advanced dancers ages 13 and older. Class size will be limited. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (630) 406-8232.

Batavia Academy of Dance, at 8½ E. Wilson St., having recently celebrated its second anniversary is one of the newest additions to Batavia’s growing arts community.
