The village of Schaumburg and its public works union have signed a contract giving workers 2 percent raises each of the next two years.

The contract is retroactive to May 1, 2010, but the union agreed to forgo raises for that retroactive year, the same as the village's firefighters union and nonunion employees received. Police officers are in the fourth year of a five-year contract.
