Gurnee police enforcement results

Gurnee police have reported results from extra impaired driver and safety restraint enforcement activities throughout the village from June 17 through July 4.Funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, police said the enforcement actions were conducted to remove drunk and drugged drivers from the roadways and increase safety restraint compliance. About 16 special deployments complemented officers conducting their regular patrol and enforcement duties. The effort yielded four drug- or alcohol-related arrests and 80 safety restraint violations. There were 126 total citations written and 93 vehicles stopped.
