Palatine Jaycees president led pro-choice group

I have heard from both sides on the disagreement over the Palatine Jaycees denial to allow the Palatine Area Catholics Respect Life group the chance to participate in this year’s July Fourth parade because of the offensive, over the edge, banner which showed a photo of an elderly woman in a wheelchair and an ultrasound photo of an unborn baby. I have also read the Fencepost articles sent in to the Daily Herald.

I will not deny that the Palatine Jaycees do a great job every year with its July Fourth activities, including the parade. Also, to me, it is not an issue of what group was allowed in the parade and what group was not. However, I do feel an important side of the story was never mentioned in any of the Fencepost letters I read or reported in any of the related articles by the Daily Herald.

The Jaycees president, Chrissy Trilling-Raices, was past president of a pro-abortion group “Campus for Choice” at the University of Illinois. In “Brainwashed: How Universities Indoctrinate America’s Youth,” a book written by Ben Shapiro, in referring to a debate with a pro-life speaker at University of Illinois, Chrissy Trilling of Campus for Choice states: “we don’t want to give the pro-life side a forum for their extremist views.”

When hearing of this background information on the Jaycees president, something never reported by the Daily Herald, I immediately thought, “Was there a hidden agenda behind the Jaycees decision to reject the positive pro-life message shown on the group’s banner?” I will let the Daily Herald readers and the entire Jaycee membership ponder this question.
