"We are looking into the shooting death of an 18-year-old teenager," she said, but she could not provide any further details.

Olafson said police were called to the 800 block of Arthur Drive in Elgin about 10:50 p.m. Monday, after the 18-year-old was shot while outside on the block.

She said the shooting was not a drive-by and was not gang-related, and she could not confirm it was a homicide.

Little information was available Tuesday night, as the crime remained under investigation, but Olafson said there was not a threat to the public as police had suspects in custody.

Police did not release the identity of the victim.
