Two injured in Crystal Lake crash

Two people were injured in a three-vehicle Crystal Lake crash Monday night, according to police.

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Route 31 and Three Oaks Road at about 7:30 p.m. Monday after a 47-year-old Cary woman driving a Toyota Camry turned left in front of a Nissan Maxima driven by a 17-year-old Crystal Lake resident, according to police.

The woman who was driving south on Route 31 struck the Nissan in the intersection, sending it into a Dodge Durango waiting at the light, according to police.

Rosemarie Van Horn of Cary was transported to Northern Illinois Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries and was cited for failing to yield, according to police.

A juvenile passenger of the Nissan was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to police.

The driver of the Dodge Durango was not injured in the crash.

Traffic was blocked at the intersection for about 50 minutes while crews responded to the scene, officials said.
