Elgin

Ÿ A garage door window was smashed out sometime between 4:30 and 6 p.m. Sunday while it was parked in the 300 block of Liberty Street in Elgin, according to police reports. A large rock was found on the garage floor, reports said.

Ÿ A purse with $300, among other things, was stolen from a vehicle sometime between 9 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Liberty Street in Elgin, according to police reports.

Ÿ Jose S. Barrera, 21, of Elgin, was arrested and later charged with possession of 1.4 grams of marijuana after a traffic stop just after 12:30 a.m. Monday at Summit Street and Hill Avenue in Elgin, police reports said. Barrera is due in court at 9 a.m. July 22 in Elgin.

Ÿ Graffiti was found in the 100 block of Skyline Drive near Carpentersville between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday, reports said.

Ÿ Someone used fireworks to blow up a mailbox in the 9N300 block of Nolan Road near Elgin between 8 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday, reports said.
