Kane Co. Bar Assoc. welcomes new president

The Kane County Bar Association has had a busy month so far, ushering in a new crop of officers, including a new president, and doling out awards for service.

Diana M. Law, managing partner at the Aurora firm of Law Elderlaw, was recently sworn in as the bar association’s president for 2011-12.

Law is co-chair of the bar’s Delivery of Legal Services Committee and has been on the bar association’s board of managers for four years. She was named the Kane County Bar Association’s Outstanding New Lawyer in 2007, and in 2010 was the Illinois State Bar Association’s Young Lawyer of the Year.

Joining her as officers are First Vice President Steven D. Titiner of Truemper and Titiner in Aurora, Second Vice President William Engerman of the Kane County state’s attorney’s office, and Secretary/Treasurer Dean M. Frieders of Mickey, Wilson, Weiler, Renzi and Andersson, P.C., in Aurora

Now honoring: The KCBA also doled out several awards for contributions ranging from community service to editing the association’s newsletter.Judge Clint Hull received the Community Service Award in recognition of his volunteer efforts in the Tri-Cities and Kane County.Lawrence W. Lobb was named the most Outstanding New Lawyer, while Gloria Bunce, the executive director of CASA Kane County, took home the Liberty Bell Award for promoting a greater understanding of the law and courts.Gregory Hoskins of Geneva was recognized with the Special Service Award for editing #147;The Bar Briefs,#148; which is the bar#146;s monthly newsletter, since 2002.CASA fundraiser: Thursday might as well be called CASA Kane County Day at Nick#146;s Pizza Pub, 990 S. Randall Road, Elgin.For the entire day, all proceeds from dine-in and carryout will be donated to CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates.The restaurant also will host a Family Fun fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. the same night.The event will take place in the Nick#146;s Pizza Pub banquet room and patio area and is open to the public. The evening will feature pizza, beverages, live music, and a gift basket raffle.Other activities will be taking place at the restaurant throughout the day, including face painting, balloon animals, bingo, and an opportunity to get a picture taken with the Nick#146;s Pizza Pub moose.Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for guests younger than 21, and will be available at the door.To make a general donation, visit casakanecounty.org.
