No one hurt in Schaumburg fire

A fire badly damaged a Schaumburg townhouse Saturday, but no one was hurt.

The blaze was reported about 11:30 a.m. on the 500 block of Del Lago Drive. Residents were home at the time and got out safely after they were notified of the fire by neighbors, Schaumburg firefighters said.

The fire started on a rear deck and spread up the facade and into the attic, authorities said. Both units of the building were damaged.

Firefighters had the blaze under control in about 20 minutes. The cause was not immediately known, but the fire did not appear suspicious, authorities said.

The townhouse was left uninhabitable, firefighters said. A loss estimate was not available.
