Lightning sparks fire at Naperville home

A lightning strike during Sunday’s thunderstorm ignited the roof of a Naperville home Sunday afternoon, causing more than $300,000 in damage to the house.

Firefighters responded to the 3500 block of Scottsdale Circle after a 911 call reported a house on fire and found heavy smoke and fire showing from the second floor roof at about 1:05 p.m., according to fire officials.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes to bring the blaze under control, and the house was deemed uninhabitable.

Fire officials said the occupants were out of the house when the first crew arrived at the scene.

No one was injured during the fire.
