Council seat still vacant in Rolling Meadows

Residents of Rolling Meadows’ 2nd Ward will have to wait longer for a new alderman after Mayor Tom Rooney’s chosen candidate declined the post Tuesday afternoon.

Rooney hoped to nominate Palatine Township Trustee Vince Farina Tuesday to fill the role left by Alderman Barb Lusk, who stepped down April 15 to pursue other opportunities.

Farina declined the role because of objections by Palatine Township, Rooney said, noting he disagreed with the perceived conflict from the township but that he would respect Farina’s wishes.

Rooney said his next step is to look at other candidates who have applied for the position.
