Wonderful family finds lost dog

We have a neighbor who’s little dog is an escape artist. He is a tiny little guy, named Hershey, who somehow gets through his fence into neighbors yards two houses away.

Today, he was gone again. I told the neighbor to call the police to see if anyone had reported finding him. Not knowing if the neighbor could call the police, I called. Turned out that some wonderful people had indeed found him, even given him a bath, and took him in, because they heard that wherever the police now take strays only gives them 24 hours before they are euthanized!

Streamwood police, please make this public to the village, where are these strays taken? I found this out by calling Hollywood Kennels where the village used to take strays.

Trisha, I thank you and your family for finding this little guy. I am only a neighbor, but the little 4-year-old boy who owns this dog was so happy to be reunited with him again. You and your family are wonderful. Hershey is a cute little guy and anyone who would find him could be very well tempted to keep him, yet Trisha and her family did the right thing and reunited him with his family.

It would have been so easy just to keep this little pooch. Not to mention the cost of a dog like this, but the happiness of his little owner.

So, for the neighbors, thank you Trisha and family, you are truly good neighbors and friends to animals. And to the rest of Streamwood residents, be sure to keep your pets in your yard and safe. Also, be aware that there are still coyotes roaming, so watch the little ones. The police will not come out for a coyote unless it is hurt or sick, so take care of your pets. The last coyote I saw was last week as he walked down the middle of Surrey Drive!

I guess that’s it, Trish you should be proud, and your young daughter also, as I’m sure she would have liked to keep Hershey.
