Police: Trio might be involved in previous burglaries at same Huntley salon

Three people from Chicago’s South Side have been charged with Sunday’s burglary of a Huntley nail salon. Police also have linked two of the three to an April 21 burglary in which three flat-screen televisions were stolen from the same salon. And police are investigating whether any of the three was involved in a March 12 burglary at the same salon.

Jameil D. Houser, 25, of the 6400 block of South Loomis Street, was charged with two counts of burglary, one count of possession of burglary tools and one misdemeanor count of theft, police say.

Michelle Seawood, 26, of the 5600 block of South Winchester Avenue, was charged with two counts of burglary. Finally, Xavier S. Oaks, 22, of the 7900 block of South Loomis Street, was charged with one count of burglary, police said.

Bail was set Monday morning at $65,000 for Houser, $50,000 for Oaks and $45,000 for Seawood. Each must pay 10 percent of those amounts to secure their release while the case is pending and are all due in court Wednesday in Woodstock.

Houser and Seawood are the pair police say are responsible for stealing three flat-screen televisions from Julie’s Nails in April, but they decline to say how they reached that conclusion.

Police have been paying extra attention to the salon ever since the two burglaries. On Sunday morning, an officer was parked across the street from the salon at 10428 Route 47, Deputy Chief Todd Fulton said.

According to Fulton:

At 3:15 a.m., the officer saw the men use a window punch to break out the salon’s front windows. Oaks and Houser went into the salon and tried to steal one of the televisions, but saw the police and ran. Officers grabbed Houser outside an apartment complex in the 10400 block of Church Street, behind the nail salon. Police arrested Seawood, who was seated in a waiting car in the complex’s parking lot. At 5:45 a.m. the same day, police arrested Oaks on foot near Route 47 and Main Street.

Meanwhile, police are investigating whether any of the suspects are connected to a March 12 burglary in which three flat-screen televisions were stolen from the same salon, so other charges may be pending, Fulton said.

The three suspects remained at McHenry County jail Monday.

If found guilty of the most serious charge, which is burglary, they could spend between three and seven years in prison, but probation also is an option.
