Village of Lombard Employee Honored With American Red Cross Hero Nomination

The desire to help people and her enthusiastic drive to always improve are some of the reasons the devotion to these tasks earned her a nomination in the American Red Cross “Heroes Award.” Bauer, who was nominated by her supervisor, Village Manager David Hulseberg, received an honorable mention recognition in the “Community Impact” category for her work over the years with the Village blood drives.

The Heroes Award program recently honored the nominees with a breakfast in Chicago. All award winners and nominees were honored in a very moving and heartfelt program. The concept for the Heroes Breakfast grew out of a desire to recognize community heroes and brings the Red Cross mission of helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies to life. The Greater Chicago Red Cross provides lifesaving services to more than 400,000 area families each year. This is done through the simple, yet powerful process, of individuals putting their needs aside to assist others.

“I was very honored and humbled to be nominated for this award,” said Bauer,

who also holds the distinction as being the longest serving Village of Lombard employee ever with 45 years. “It was very much appreciated and quite something to be among those true heroes honored at the breakfast,” she added.

Bauer urges everyone to take a few moments to view the “Heroes” at
