Employers should raise payroll deduction

Gov. Quinn needed the 2 percent tax hike to get the money to bail out the state’s debt. How come companies do not have to abide by this law? My company has not taken out the 2 percent increase.

The Illinois Department of Revenue said it all falls on the individual to pay the tax in the end — not the company. It took me three weeks to get my increase added onto my paycheck because the payroll website would not let me do any changes. How many other companies are doing the same to their employees? I guess Gov. Quinn pulled one over our eyes.

Illinois must not really need the tax increase he said we needed as of Jan. 1. He must not be concerned that some companies aren’t doing the tax increase and his staff is not checking up to see who is deducting that other 2-percent increase for our 5-percent Illinois tax.

Gov. Quinn stated how this would help the state get the Illinois debt lowered. It doesn’t seem very important anymore as stressed by Gov. Quinn, now does it?
