Dist. 15 candidate grateful for support

To the 6,430 residents of Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 who cast their vote for me last week, my most sincere thanks.  Whereas I was disappointed with the outcome of the election, I enjoyed the challenge of the democratic process in seeking election for the Board of Education and I am happy to have offered my service to the community.

Far more important than any one candidate's success at the ballot box is the benefit to the community of a diverse and qualified selection of candidates who electorally compete for the community's confidence in the process of electing those who govern and assume responsibility for the education of our children.

I was forthcoming with my thoughts and ideas concerning educational excellence and what is needed to provide high quality education to our children in increasingly financially challenging times.

The discomfiture of an electoral loss is alleviated when I am reminded I did adhere to an early commitment I would rather lose an election where voters are informed of my educational vision than win an election where I said what was more likely needed to win.

As I was taught in school, it is not whether you win or lose but how you play the game.
