Elmhurst political group pushes for spending reform

SPRINGFIELD — Though he failed in his bid for governor last year, Adam Andrzejewski still is trying to influence state politics with the growth of his Elmhurst organization For the Good of Illinois.

The DuPage County conservative was joined by Palatine Sen. Matt Murphy and other Republican lawmakers Thursday as his organization presented its “We’re Spent” budget reforms.

Andrzejewski said he developed the plan after speaking with citizens from around the state, including a Web developer in Park Ridge who said his company’s bottom line would increase by nearly $1 million if he moved his business to Indiana.

“The people of this state are saying, ‘We’re spent,’” Andrzejewski said. “They’re out of money, out of time and out of patience.”

Andrzejewski proposed three plans that include budget and worker compensation reforms. Details can be found at www.forthegoodofillinois.org.

While many see him as a tea party figurehead in Illinois, Andrzejewski said he is focused on growing his Elmhurst organization as a nonpartisan group.

“People can’t understand why the government can’t tighten it’s belt, so I do think the movement is growing,” he said.
