Autism Speaks teams with Pump it Up Schaumburg

A special exercise program featuring games and activities that cater to the specific needs of children with autism will debut from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at Pump It Up in Schaumburg.

The national children’s birthday party franchise is partnering with Autism Speaks so that more than 150 inflatable playgrounds across the country are launching the Sensory Jump Time program, where trained staff will lead games that have been deemed appropriate for children with autism. The facility lights, music, and procedures will be altered to provide a safe and fun sensory environment. The debut event is free to children with autism and their families.

“The Sensory Jump Time provides children with autism the perfect environment to work on their social skills and gross motor skills in a nonthreatening environment,” said Joyce Meredith, owner of Pump It Up of Schaumburg at 1240 N. Roselle Road, in a news release. “We’re proud to work with Autism Speaks to offer a program that can aid in therapies for children with autism.”

Pump It Up of Schaumburg also is taking part in a nationwide fundraising effort to benefit Autism Speaks — The 3rd Annual Great Open Jump. For a donation to Autism Speaks, all area families can enjoy open play time from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, April 7. Pump It Up of Schaumburg will also offer Puzzle Piece contribution cards throughout the month of April for a recommended donation to Autism Speaks.
