Palatine’s Wellness Place to hold fun run, walk on May 14

The folks at Wellness Place know a healthy dose of community support goes a long way in the fight against cancer.

Keeping that in mind, consider taking part in the Palatine-based nonprofit organization’s second annual Community Cancer Walk/Run the morning of Saturday, May 14, at Harper College.

Dedicated to improving the lives of those touched by cancer through counseling, support and education for patients and families alike, Wellness Place provides services that are individualized and complimentary to medical treatment — and all at no cost.

Organizers hope the walk/run will become Wellness Place’s flagship fundraiser, and that the May event proves even more successful than last year’s, which attracted more than 750 people and $60,000 in net proceeds.

Participants can do the 5K fun run or 3K walk. Registration fees range from $15 for ages 6 to 15 to $25 for adults who sign up by May 9. Kids 5 and under walk free.
