Charewicz for Des Plaines Ward 8

The three candidates for the Ward 8 city council seat all are relative newcomers to city government. All have business backgrounds that would be useful in the post. They’re fairly evenly matched, with each bringing different strengths to the job. Austin Stanton, a construction executive whose home has flooded three times, has been involved with an anti-flooding group. Pat Mauro owns a sewer construction business and is on the city’s Economic Development Commission. However, we endorse Michael Charewicz, former president of the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce and owner of an auto business, as being the candidate who offered the broadest, most detailed views on the widest range of issues, and the one who with his optimistic view of the city and its future, showed the most likelihood of being a consensus builder in advancing his agenda. Our only reservation is that Charewicz not prove too nice when it comes to playing politics, which can be a rough game.
