COD implements new online health programs application

The College of DuPage Admissions office has implemented a new online application for the 21 health programs that require a separate admissions process.

The new Health Sciences application replaces individual paper applications for each of the 21 health programs and allows for online payment at the time the application is submitted.

“The new application improves processes for both students and employees,” said Deb Jeffay, Health Sciences Admissions representative. “Students can now fill the application out at home and pay the fee without having to come on campus. Plus, if they want to apply to multiple health programs, they just go to the same place. The College saves time because employees no longer need to input information into the system from the paper applications. The system also addresses other issues that were not automated before.”

Prospective students applying to any health program must first apply to the College, which unveiled a new online Admissions application in 2008. After being admitted to COD, students can then apply to a health program and pay the $50 application fee.

Applying to a program does not guarantee entry. In order to complete the health programs application process, students must finish other requirements that vary from program to program.

“What's great about the new online Health Sciences application is that the system automatically generates important messages that are program-specific,” Jeffay said. “For example, once someone submits the online Health Sciences application, the system sends a communication that outlines what other items need to be addressed before the application process is complete. These items range from specific tests to referrals to an application essay.”
