By Daily Herald report

Educare of West DuPage is on track for an April groundbreaking for its new facility at Forest Avenue and Pearl Road in West Chicago.

The agency recently received a $1.5 million grant from the state, which will be used to prepare the building site, complete intersection improvements and begin construction on the 24,000-square-foot building.

Educare is a research-based program designed to help narrow the achievement gap for young, at-risk children.

“For too many children here in DuPage County, the odds are stacked against success long before kindergarten,” said Theresa Hawley, Educare of West DuPage’s board chairwoman. The full-day, full-year preschool in West Chicago will be the first suburban Educare in the country.
