Rolling Meadows' red-light policy not altered by storm

Rolling Meadows already reviews every suspected red-light camera violation before sending out a ticket, so last week's snowstorm won't change the policy, Barry Krumstok, acting city manager, said Wednesday.

The city of Chicago and some other suburbs are automatically tossing any red-light violations caught by cameras last week Tuesday and Wednesday during the height of the storm.

But in Rolling Meadows, police officers already credit drivers who stop — or attempt to stop — when reviewing the apparent violations forwarded to them by the company that operates the cameras, said Krumstok.

Any slickness on roads would not be a reason to alter this policy, he said.

“We're not line people,” said Krumstok. “We're looking for you to stop or attempt to stop. Sometimes people stop in the crosswalks, and that counts.”
