Carol Stream snow crews expect to finish by Friday

Carol Stream public works crews were back out on the streets Thursday pushing down tall snow piles near intersections to improve visibility for motorists.

It’s likely some of that snow may wind up in resident driveways, but Public Works Director Phil Modaff said it’s the only thing the village can do at this point.

Snow from some exceedingly tall piles may need to be hauled away.

Modaff said he expects crews will finish most of their work on Friday.

Special attention is being given to school zones in case classes resume Friday, Modaff said.

All streets in town were passable by 6 p.m. Wednesday, Modaff said.

“If you could get out of the driveway, you could get through any street in town,” Modaff said.

A full crew of public works staffers and contractors operated a total of 35 pieces of snow-removal equipment.
