I am the only candidate that has served in leadership role for a 300,000+ employee organization, has a Homeland Security and Emergency Management background, and can interface with the citizens of Carol Stream at all levels. Many buildings in the industrial park on Gary Avenue remain vacant and could provide a large revenue stream. How could the village best promote that park to bring businesses in?Strategic marketing and advertising of the available space within the industrial park needs to happen. Communities throughout the Chicagoland area, and even beyond, need to know what Carol Stream has to offer. Not only is it a great place to work, but we need to prove that it's also a great place to live and raise a family.Red-light cameras have been controversial almost since they first were installed in Carol Stream. Where do you stand on that issue?I think that anytime something new is introduced, there will always be some sort of controversy. When it comes to red-light cameras, one thing is certain - evryone knows that the cameras are there. What that has done, is caused persons to be more cautious about their driving patterns. Persons that are more cautious or defensive while driving, make the roads safer not only for themselves, but for everyone else around them. The park district will build a huge recreation center just south of Town Center in the near future. What should the village do to get involved in that and how much of an impact can, and should, the village have on that project? The Village has always worked well with their partners at the park district. The Village has to be involved from a building and zoning perspective, and I think it is prudent of both parties to continue the partnership to design and build a facility for the residents of Carol Stream. How would you fix the flooding issues that have plagued Carol Stream in the last several years? What, specifically, would you do to both fix the problem and put residents at ease that they won't have to worry about this in the future?I would work with the emergency management team in Carol Stream to have a more aggressive awareness program to teach residents how to prevent, respond to and recover from flooding. I would also speak with residetns in flood prone areas to see what concerns they have had with flood response in the past, and what steps they we as a Village Board should take to help address their concerns.
