Carol Stream man accused of preying on child for 10 years

Bail was set at $500,000 Friday for a Carol Stream man accused of sexually preying on a young girl for almost 10 years.

Patrick Wallace, 40, of the 1100 block of Orangery Court, is charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

Assistant DuPage County State’s Attorney Debora Brewer said Wallace sexually assaulted the daughter of a family friend up to six times, beginning when she was 6 years old. The victim, who is now 15, recently came forward with the allegations, Brewer said.

“We anticipate there may be additional counts” of sex assault charges, she told DuPage Judge Elizabeth Sexton at a bond hearing.

Sexton ordered Wallace, who was arrested Thursday, to avoid contact with his accuser and other children should he post the necessary $50,000 bond to be released from the county jail while his case is pending. Wallace told the judge he does not have a job.

His next court date is Feb. 7 before Judge George Bakalis.
