Second man accused of selling fake cocaine to Schaumburg undercover officers

Schaumburg police charged a second defendant with trying to sell undercover officers fake cocaine last week in the vicinity of Carolina Court and Savannah Lane.

A Cook County judge set bail at $30,000 Tuesday for 19-year-old Riese Arcos, of the 1000 block of Walnut Ave. in Hanover Park, who faces charges that he delivered look-alike cocaine within 1,000 feet of a park. Arcos’ co-defendant Walter Thiede, 21, of Streamwood, was charged Saturday with manufacture and possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park and conspiracy to sell.

Arcos, who was on probation for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon at the time of the alleged offense, turned himself in Monday after he learned police were looking for him, prosecutors said.

Because he was on bond at the time of his arrest, Arcos will be held without bail, prosecutors said.

He next appears in court on Feb. 10.
