Des Plaines library offers LexisNexis for free

Des Plaines Public Library announced this week the addition of LexisNexis Library Express, the first product tailored specifically for public libraries. The new service, now available for free to all DPPL patrons, includes thousands of news sources from around the world, as well as superior legal information including case law, statutes, codes, and regulations.

The service also includes a Company Dossier feature, which combines information from dozens sources to create comprehensive profiles of over 50 million companies. Job seekers and entrepreneurs are able to generate lists of companies matching specific criteria such as industry, size, and location.

“In today's environment, where so much research is performed online, we have been challenged to assist our patrons with finding quality information,” said Heather Imhoff, head of public information services. “By having LexisNexis Library Express service available in our library, we are able to offer our patrons the opportunity to find accurate information quickly and easily. The service features a variety of information – from company financial information, market research, industry reports and business and financial news to case law, statues and regulations, patents and much more.”

The LexisNexis Library Express interface makes it simple for researchers of all levels to get accurate search results. It supports natural language searching and relevance ranking as well as the precise LexisNexis® search commands that have become a benchmark for information retrieval performance. LexisNexis® SmartIndexing Technology™ is integrated throughout the new service to organize both sources and documents, and is incorporated in the Results Clustering feature that allows users to group their results by publication type, subject, geographic region, and language.

The LexisNexis Library Express service is available to all patrons Des Plaines Public Library in the library, and from any computer outside the library with a DPPL library card. Visit dppl.org to learn more about accessing this comprehensive, new service today.
