Westmont restaurant shares its bounty

Uncle Bub's restaurant in Westmont has been working with the People's Resource Center food pantry all year to help feed the needy, and its efforts culminated on Christmas Day when the restaurant served Christmas dinner to about 300 people.

The restaurant employees donated their time and the owner, Mark Link, donated both his time and the food. He was joined by his family and friends, along with many of his employees who donated their time to volunteer as cooks, greeters, and servers.

Helping others doesn't only happen at Christmastime at the restaurant. Link says the motto for his restaurant is, “We share because we care.” That happens every month when the staff donates 10 percent of their tips to an area charity chosen by staff members.

This year's Christmas luncheon is the first of its kind for the restaurant which has been in business for 13 years, Link says. It was coordinated with Hank Anzelone, of the People's Resource Center food pantry in Westmont.
