Two candidates so far for Rolling Meadows mayor

Two candidates filed to run for Rolling Meadows mayor first thing Monday morning, and so far six candidates have filed to run for the city council.

As expected, former alderman Tom Rooney filed his petitions to run for mayor; along with resident Jonathan Trapani. The current mayor, Ken Nelson, will finish his second term in April and is prohibited by term limits from running again.

Filing will continue until 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20. The consolidated election is April 5, 2011.

Rolling Meadows will also elect aldermen in Wards 1, 3, 5 and 7 and a city clerk.

Ward 1: Michael Cannon.

Ward 3: Alderman Larry Buske.

Ward 5: Robert Banger Jr. and Jon Bisesi have filed. Alderman Glenn Adams is in his third term as alderman and cannot run again.

Ward 7: James Suchecki and Rudolf Balek, the former 7th Ward alderman. The current alderman is Jim Larsen.

City clerk: No one filed first thing Monday morning. Lisa Hinman is the current clerk.

All of the seats being elected are held for four years.

On the Rolling Meadows Park District board, six candidates have filed so far to run for four seats.

Incumbents William (Bill) Cooley, William H. Palla and Patti Sutherland Weicker filed for re-election, along with David Andrejek, Donna R. Bisesi and Marc Goldstein. All park commissioners' terms are for four years.
