Palatine plans Irish market for St. Pat's Day

Palatine's first Paint the Town Green event is beginning to take shape.

The village council this week approved the use of the train station for an Irish market, in addition to closing certain downtown streets for a St. Patrick's Day parade barring severe weather.

The event, one of the only St. Patrick's Day celebrations in the Northwest suburbs, will take place Saturday, March 11.

Liz Noe of ElizEvents Inc., who along with Durty Nellie's is planning the day, is seeking about 10 vendors to feature Irish goods at the market.

She also envisions entertainment such as Irish dancers or a folk band.

Palatine officials urged Noe to consider using half Palatine merchants, so Noe suggested they contact her soon for an application since they'll likely be selected on a first-come, first-serve basis.
