Wheaton Warrenville South teacher charged with child porn

A 34-year-old Wheaton Warrenville South High School biology and chemistry teacher has been charged with child pornography and placed on paid administrative leave.

Jason Hass, of the 2600 block of Norwich Court in Naperville, was under a lengthy investigation that led to a search of his home and his subsequent arrest early Friday, Naperville police said Monday.

The search, they said, turned up several images of child pornography on his personal computer,

Naperville High-tech Crimes Unit worked with the Will County Sheriff's Department throughout the investigation.

A statement released late Monday from Wheaton Warrenville Unit School District 200 stated the district learned of the arrest Friday and met with Hass on Monday morning.

“At this time, to the best of our knowledge, the charges do not include any activities or materials related to Wheaton Warrenville South High School, CUSD 200 or any of our students,” the statement read. “In addition, our own initial investigation supports that there is no school involvement.”

District officials met with Hass, free from Will County jail after posting 10 percent of a $100,000 bond, Monday morning and placed him on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. A substitute teacher has been assigned to cover his classes.
