Police: Mount Prospect man drove over lawns while drunk

A 23-year-old Mount Prospect man admitted to damaging five lawns with his vehicle over a three-day period last week after being charged with a DUI early Friday morning, police said.

Kyle P. Obrochta of the 100 block of North Eastwood Avenue was arrested after police responded to a 911 call reporting a green sport utility vehicle driving on lawns and sidewalks in the area of the 300 block of South Wapella Avenue just after 1 a.m. Friday, according to police.

One witness was able to provide a license plate to responding officers, who spotted the matching vehicle driving erratically on the 100 block of North Eastwood Avenue, according to police.

Obrochta, the sole passenger of the vehicle, failed several field sobriety tests and was arrested, police said.

At first he denied damaging lawns in the area the night before but later admitted to damaging five lawns in the area of Lions Park with his vehicle between Wednesday, Nov. 24, and Friday, Nov. 26, according to police.

Obrochta was charged with five counts of criminal damage to property and one count of reckless driving in addition to the DUI, according to police.

He was released after posting bond.
