Barrington sets $2.7 million 2010 tax levy

Barrington village board members this week approved their estimated 2010 property tax levy at just under $2.7 million — a 4.6 percent increase over the previous year's. They also estimated their annual debt service levy at $773,833, an increase of 6.1 percent.

The previous year's debt service levy had been reduced as a result of the refunding of the outstanding general obligation bonds.

The new estimate is $58,867 less than what the levy would have been if the bonds had not been refunded.

The board will hold a hearing on its proposed 2011 budget at its Nov. 22 meeting, beginning at 8 p.m.
