D15 wants residents to help plan its future

Since Palatine Township Elementary District 15 interim Superintendent Scott Thompson came on board last summer, he's been focused on increasing both transparency and communication with residents.

He spoke with me in August about a series of community meetings he led while at Antioch Elementary District 34, and he has decided the “engagement sessions” may be effective in District 15 as well.

Navigate15, as the process is being called, will kick off at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at Winston Campus' cafeteria, 900 E. Palatine Road, Palatine. A small team of staff and citizens is planning and running seven meetings, which will continue through June 2011.

The entire community parents, residents and business leaders is invited to offer opinions and insights on the future direction of District 15.

Meetings will cover a range of topics, including facilities, finances, demographics and technology. Recommendations will then be made to the board based on feedback.

Future meetings have been scheduled for Jan. 18, Feb. 15, March 22, May 3 and 31 and June 21. To participate in Navigate15, or for more information, call (847) 963-3210 or e-mail navigate15@ccsd15.net.
