Stealing watch gets Hoffman Estates mom 3-year prison sentence

In exchange for pleading guilty to stealing a watch from a Hoffman Estates resale shop in March, a 43-year-old Hoffman Estates woman received a three-year prison sentence.

Delores Dyson, of the 100 block of Washington Boulevard in Hoffman Estates, pleaded guilty to retail theft, a class three felony that carries a possible sentence of two to five years.

Dyson's daughter and co-defendant, Lashawntae Dyson, took the watch from a display case and put it in her mother's purse, authorities said.

Lashawntae Dyson, of Carol Stream, was sentenced to 30 months probation in August. Court records show Delores Dyson has multiple felony theft convictions that have sent her to prison five times over the last 12 years.

She received credit for 23 days in custody and was ordered to pay $655 in fines.
