A Cook County judge on Friday ordered a man from the 4300 block of West Wilcox Street in Chicago to be held on house arrest while awaiting trial on charges he attempted to abduct a 12-year-old girl in Leyden Township, Cook County Sheriff's police said.

Dillard Williams, 18, is charged with attempted predatory criminal sexual assault, attempted kidnapping and child abduction.

The girl, who lives in unincorporated Leyden Township, was walking home from school around 5 p.m. Wednesday near Fullerton Avenue and Mannheim Road when Williams asked her for her name. Police said he put his arm around her, made sexual advances and told her to come into his motel room.

She broke free and ran down the block, but Williams pursued her, police said, until a neighbor saw the chase and ordered Williams to leave her alone. The same neighbor later saw Williams and another man leave the motel and begin walking down Mannheim Road, at which point the neighbor called police.
