Rauschenberger is right on marriage

Steve Rauschenberger's comments during an editorial board session for candidacy in the state's 22nd Senate District regarding gay marriage or civil unions were a welcome relief from a politician not speaking out of both sides of his mouth letting us know his feelings and letting the chips fall where they may.

Steve and I strongly disagree that children should be adopted by homosexual couples. This would be subjecting our children to a vast untested social experiment. Research is crystal clear, children always do better in families with both a father and mother. The two most loving dads can never be a mom, nor the two most loving moms a dad. Children deserve and need both with the singular talents they both bring to the family.

To their credit, the General Assembly in Springfield has stood tall in defending traditional marriage, against the unholy demands of the homosexual activists to force this or civil unions down the people's throats. Across America, within the 30 states where this was decided in the proper manner at the ballot box, it was enshrined within the constitutions of all 30 with large pluralities. That is the only way any change in the meaning of marriage should be decided in Illinois not through a rogue activist judge wrongly making law from his bench instead of interpreting it.

You would have my vote, Steve, and hopefully many others who respect your courage in speaking out. We need more Steve Rauschenberger's in Springfield who not only talk the talk but walk the walk.
