Clothing, toy saleWestern Avenue School in Geneva has children's clothing and toy resale from 6 to 9 p.m. today and 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the school, 1500 Western Ave., Geneva. The sale will feature clothes, baby equipment, toys, shoes, sporting goods and books. No strollers or children younger than 10 allowed tonight. Saturday will have half-priced white ticket items.Hike for HospiceHike for Hospice, a 5K walk along the Fox River to remember, honor and celebrate loved ones, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Peg Bond Center, 151 Island Ave. in Batavia. The three-mile loop takes the scenic north path along the river and crosses over at Fabyan Parkway, and heads south to end back in Batavia. All registered walkers will receive a T-shirt and lunch from Moveable Feast after the walk. Registration fees are $25 for those 13 and older, $15 for those ages 7 to 12, and free for children 6 and younger. The resale features gently used fall and winter clothing for boys and girls, sizes infant through preteen. Main St. The schedule for the upcoming year will be discussed, including plans for an overnight at the museum and field trip. The Junior Historical Society is a group for students 8 to 13 years old. It meets once a month, during the school year, at the Heritage Center and the members participate in a variety of activities. Candidates are able to circulate nomination petitions now, and file them beginning Dec. 13.Western Avenue workResurfacing of Western Avenue, from Fabyan Parkway to McKee Street in Batavia, begins Monday and is expected to be finished by the end of October. Beginning Oct. 4, the road will be closed. Residents of the Braeburn subdivision will receive a letter from the city detailing how to access the subdivision during the closure.
