Rt. 25 to close in South Elgin

Route 25 from Gilbert Street to the Canadian National Railroad crossing will be closed beginning today for approximately 14 days. The work is being done as part of the Stearns Road Bridge project. The at-grade railroad crossing is on Route 25 just south of Gilbert Street. The railroad company needs to close the road to repair and widen the track crossing. A detour route will be posted to direct traffic around the closure. The detour will use Dunham/Kirk Road and Routes 64 and 25. Discuss library move

The Geneva library board will have a public hearing regarding its purchase of a site for a new library at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the library, 127 W. James St. The library is buying the former Cetron factory site and an office building near State and Richards streets.

Fox offers fitness passes

Fox Valley Park District is promoting its "Fall into Fitness" campaign through Sept. 30 by offering a free seven-day pass to any of the district's three fitness centers in Aurora. The offer is available to first-time visitors 16 and older. A pass may be redeemed at Eola Community Center, 555 S. Eola Road; Prisco Community Center, 150 W.
