Palatine police investigating gang-related shooting of teen

Palatine police said they're investigating the gang-related shooting of a 16-year-old.

Just before 6 p.m. Monday, paramedics responded to an apartment building on the 1900 block of North Green Lane on a report someone was injured in a fall, according to a news release. While working on the male victim, they discovered the pain was actually the result of a gunshot wound to the backside.

Paramedics notified police, who came to the scene and learned the victim, a Palatine resident, was chased by a group of individuals in the area of Gardenia Lane and Baldwin Road, the release stated. The 16-year-old was able to evade the group by running, but not before sustaining the gunshot wound.

The Palatine Fire Department transported the victim to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. The injury doesn't appear to be life-threatening.

Police Cmdr. Craig Lesselyoung said the investigation is ongoing.
