Schaumburg man accused of disrupting jury

Bond was set Wednesday at $75,000 for a man accused of interfering with jury selection at a Kane County murder trial earlier this week.

Brian D. Long, 24, was arrested Monday on one Class 4 felony count of communicating with jurors and witnesses at the Kane County Judicial Center, 37W777 Route 38, in St. Charles.

Authorities said he approached jurors being considered for service in an Elgin murder case, wrote down their names, and then made phone calls or sent text messages.

The incident led to a mistrial for 19-year-old Raul Perez-Gonzalez, who is charged in the Jan. 30, 2009, shooting death of Paola Rodriguez, 22, of Rochelle, in Elgin.

On Monday, Long told the court he lived in Hanover Park, but his address was listed in court records Wednesday as the 1900 block of Song Sparrow Court in Schaumburg.

He remained in the county jail Wednesday afternoon, and would have to post $7,500 in cash to be released. His next court date is June 29.
