Seth Paine kids to stage 'Beauty and the Beast Jr.'

Eighty fourth- and fifth-grade students at Lake Zurich's Seth Paine School have been rehearsing all year for tonight's debut of "Disney's Beauty and The Beast Jr."

Under the direction of Robin Kern and Mary Beth Euker, this performance serves to provide students an opportunity to sing, dance and act in an era of financial cutbacks. Proceeds generated from this performance will help to fund next year's musical, and given the economy, provides a way to have an excellent cultural experience at a great price!

"Beauty and The Beast" is a centuries-old love story that has been recreated most recently by Disney animators in 1991. It is a tale of Belle, a girl dissatisfied with small-town life who is attempting to break out of society's rut. She encounters The Beast, previously Prince Adam, who was cursed to a life as a monster due to his arrogance and hardened heart. Over time, and a number of theatrical obstacles, the two find true love. But will society be accepting of this?

Come enjoy the award-winning show, with music composed by Alan Menken, lyrics written by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and the book/screenplay written by Linda Woolverton.
