A 24-year-old St. Charles man was sentenced Friday to more than six years in prison for selling cocaine near a Batavia church, prosecutors said.

Abraham, who faced up to 30 years in prison, was sentenced to 80 months by Associate Judge Allen M. Anderson.

Prosecutors said Abraham sold three grams of cocaine to an undercover police officer on Sept. 13, 2007, at the corner of Logan and Park streets, about 600 feet from a church.

He also was sentenced to three years for a violating his probation in a 2005 drug case by being convicted of the 2007 charge. The sentence is to run concurrent to the 80-month term.

Abraham must serve at least half his sentence, or about three years and three months. He was given credit for 517 days served in the county jail, the state's attorney's office said.
