Townhouses offer convenient access to downtown Des Plaines

Buyers like the winning combination of suburban living with an urban flair at Lexington Park, a new community of 120 luxury townhouses in downtown Des Plaines.

The Lexington Homes development offers three floor plans that come standard with two to three bedrooms, 21/2 baths and attached two-car garage. Buyers also can select from a variety of options and upgrades, including fireplaces, alternate bedroom configurations and more powder rooms.

"Lexington Park offers buyers the charm of a quiet suburban setting with urban conveniences such as retail, entertainment and public transportation options within footsteps of their front door," said Jeff Benach, co-principal of Lexington Homes. "These citylike characteristics extend to the design of the home as well with standard features such as Juliette balconies and eight-foot front doors that are more common in city developments."

Located north of Miner Street in downtown Des Plaines, Lexington Park offers tours of three models that feature the builder's signature touches, such as arched entryways, kitchen pass-through, a built-in window seat in the master bedroom, and a den situated off the kitchen.

The Warrington floor plan is priced from $262,990 and offers 1,758 square feet, two or three bedrooms and 21/2 baths.

Showing a contemporary interior, this model home features a chocolate, green and cream color scheme and dark wood furnishings.

The main level, one-half flight up from the entry, features an open living/dining room, hardwood floors, Juliette balcony, an abundance of seating and a plasma TV. A table runner and green place settings top the dining table, while a free-standing mirror gives the room a spacious feel.

The eat-in kitchen includes stainless steel appliances, cherry cabinetry topped with granite, and doors to the oversized balcony. Off the kitchen, the first-floor den features terra cotta walls and a view of the outdoors.

Upstairs, this model features two master suites at opposite ends of the home where roommates or guests will have plenty of privacy. Buyers can opt for two secondary bedrooms in lieu of the second master suite.

The master suite at the front of the home features a vaulted ceiling, his-and-hers closets and built-in window seat. The upgraded bath shows his-and-hers raised vanities with granite countertops and ceramic tile tub and shower surround.

Also topped with a cathedral ceiling, the second master features a walk-in closet and is large enough to accommodate a desk. The bath has a sink, tub/shower combo and window for extra sunlight.

Down a half-flight of stairs from the entry, the finished lower level is outfitted as a game room with a poker table and plasma TV.

The Coventry design, priced from $271,490, features 1,913 square feet, three bedrooms and 21/2 baths.

Again, the main level sits a half flight up from the front entry and showcases a contemporary interior with a brown, eggplant and cream color scheme. Similar to the Warrington, this floor plan features a Juliette balcony off the living/dining room and hardwood flooring. A cream sofa, two eggplant chairs and a striped chair furnish the living room while a floral centerpiece tops the dining table. An enclave houses a cabinet and mirror.

The open, airy kitchen with extra windows has stainless steel appliances, maple cabinetry with granite countertops, pantry and pass-through to the dining area. The family can gather around the center island breakfast bar for a quick meal or use the oversized balcony.

The upper-level master suite features a vaulted ceiling, sheers with eggplant valance and cream bed cover topped with pillows. The luxury bath has dual sinks, tub and walk-in shower.

Two secondary bedrooms with vaulted ceilings are shown as a guest room and home office with a photography theme and camera display. A full hall bath has a sink and tub/shower.

The finished lower level, a half flight down from the entry, is set up as a family room with a large sectional and plasma TV.

The Bristol model is priced from $249,990 and features 1,605 square feet, two bedrooms and 21/2 baths. This model showcases many of the features in the Warrington and Coventry plans, but is decorated as a vignette so buyers can envision their own furniture in the home.

The monthly maintenance fee for each floor plan is $165.16.
