Businesses collecting food:Downtown Naperville businesses are spearheading their second annual food drive, "Corner Hunger in 2010," to benefit Loaves and Fishes Community Pantry. Most downtown businesses located on corners will have large metal cans for collecting canned or nonperishable food items between Jan. 15 and the end of February. A complete list of drop-off locations can be found at www.downtownnaperville.com.Churches receives grants:A suicide awareness program offered by two Naperville churches, in partnership with Suicide Prevention Services, has received a $5,000 grant for their "Lutheran Against Violence" initiative. The grant was awarded by Itasca-based Wheat Ridge Ministries, in cooperation with the Northern Illinois District of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and the Metropolitan Chicago Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. A total of $25,000 in grants were given to five churches with the other grant recipients in Chicago, Park Forest and Robbins.Cabaret seeks sponsors:Woodridge Community Pantry is seeking sponsors and silent auction items for its annual fundraising Cabaret, which will be held at 5:30 p.m. April 25 at the Hilton Lisle-Naperville. Tickets are $45. Sponsorship levels range from $500 to $5,000 and include benefits such as name recognition in news releases, signage, the pantry's Web site, and the event program book. Also needed are auction items, especially electronics and gift cards.
